Has anyone had this drip problem and if so how did you fix it? Replace petcock with a new one if you can find one? Or get a universal plug and seal it as opposed to a petcpck? Any other ideas welcomed. This message has been edited by robin on 05-06-2019 at 09:49 AM It took a little longer because I had to drop the alternator to get at the lower radiator hose clamp based on the angle of the clamp was place by the factory. Regarding the petcock the issue with those are there are two tabs at the end of the petcock and if you take the petcock all the way out getting those tabs back in is very hard to do. Mine was leaking because one of the tabs did not go all the way through and allowed it to leak a bit so I removed the petcock after draining the system back down and cut those two tabs off and everything works just fine. I bled the system per the manual and currently running right at the 3 o'clock as it should on the temperature gauge. This was a great learning experience all the way around and thanks to all that helped. Rick BTW, you can replace the petcock. The are universal, or at least use to be. Worse case take it out and with you to the parts store next time.Cpmman Had the radiator out today to replace the timing belt and when bleeding the radiator discovered the petcock slowly dripping with it closed hand tight like the service manual states. robin Try some plumbers tape or o ring . 2 replace instructions in link. http://m.carsdirect.com/car-repair/how-to-fix-a-leaking-radiator-drain-petcock
Could it be just some fluid spilled lower and it’s finding its way out .
Maybe some debris Got in the threads .robin another timing belt done ….Well done Rick
It took some time but we got it done the whole back was the radiator petcock did not seal properly because of the two tabs on the inside of the drain plug... the solution was to drain the system pull a plug and cut those tabs off now it works fine.Cpmman Thanks Robin..! The water pump, tensioner and bearing were replaced at the same time of course. quincy Glad everything worked itself out.
